On Saturday night, the Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will play Spirit FC at Sydney United Sports Centre and have the chance to overtake their opponents on the table with a win.

Spirit FC are currently in 9th, one place and two points ahead of the Wanderers. English striker Matthew West is their main threat and has scored 14 goals this season, including two in last week’s 4-4 draw against Parramatta FC.

The Red & Black will also have to keep an eye on Kevin Lopes, who has chipped in with nine goals this season and former Wanderers Academy player Ahmed Sweedan.

For the Wanderers, Jacob Vasiliou will be one to watch. Normally played as a winger, Vasiliou joined the Wanderers in the mid-season transfer window and has spent time with the Manchester City Academy.

After scoring three goals in his last three games for the U20 side, Vasiliou made his NPL 2 first grade debut in last week’s game against Central Coast Mariners.

Jarrod Carluccio is another Wanderer to watch in the future. Carluccio has been a regular in the U20 side this season and some impressive performances has resulted in the forward making his first-grade debut in last week’s game against Central Coast Mariners.

This week, Carluccio was named in the NSW Blues squad in the Tri-State Football Championship, which also features teams from Queensland and Australian Capital Territory.

The last meeting between the sides saw the Wanderers win 2-1. Kosta Grozos opened the scoring with a spectacular 50-yard lob, and then won the game in the 90th minute with a free kick.
